Puzzle Card

Every time I make a card I try to make it unique to its recipient with their likes and dislikes in mind.  I also LOVE it when the card speaks to something that has special meaning to themThis card meets these standards.

First, the card and then I’ll explain its special meaning and it’s recipient.  The card is this “Twisted Easel Card” :

NOW TO THE MEANING BEHIND THE CARD:

I am the chunky but adorable baby  sitting between my two big brothers.  This is my favorite picture of us.  Throughout our childhood and her life my Mother loved playing games and putting puzzles together.  My eldest brother and I share her love of “working” puzzles.  He recently got me hooked on Dowdle puzzles after giving me a couple for Christmas and later sending me a box full of them just because.   What a GREAT Big Brother!!  I made this puzzle card for him.

These Dowdle puzzles are created from the artwork of Eric Dowdle. They are very scenic and usually very challenging.  Below is a picture of the latest Dowdle puzzle my eldest brother and I conquered together called New York.  Just look at those buildings, do they all look the same to you because they did to us, now just imagine them divided into 1000 little pieces.  LOL.  You can visit Eric Dowdle’s website HERE , he has GREAT puzzles.

Supplies:

Stamps – Love Is (SSS) ; All My Love (SSS) ; Paper – Baked Brown Sugar (Stampin Up) ; Black Glossy ; Die-cuts – Love (SSS) ;  Puzzle Background Die (Impression Obsession) ; Double-Ended Tags Die (Spellbinders)

World Traveler Appreciation

Hello it’s me again and so soon!   LOL.

I decided to post this card I made for my brother.  He’s GREAT and happens to have traveled the world which is why I thought of using this stamp.  In addition to having a multitude of talents he is by far my biggest card-making supporter.  He even follows this Card Blog and leaves comments, which for a guy is pretty AMAZING!

This card is special because it was my first time using Pan Pastels.  I saw a Pan Pastel demonstration at the Impression Obsession booth at STAMPAWAY USAShe made some gorgeous samples and you can see her Demo them in this Video.  It’s nice to have yet another coloring option to add to: Inks, Copics, & Watercolor Markers: Zig Real Color ; Tombow ; Marvy Le Plume II.

[Remember:  Everything highlighted in PINK is a link.  Just click on the highlighted word.]

As always, this card had quite a bit of bling which didn’t show up in the pictures.  Below is a close up which shows more of the bling but not much.  If anyone knows how to get bling or sparkle to show up in pictures PLEASE let me know!

I’ve always liked this world map stamp.  I thought about using it for my Dad’s birthday card this year but chose to do another Stampscapes scene for him instead.  My Dad was a world traveler too, having done most of his international travel while in the United States Air Force , from which he retired.  That’s where he became fluent in German.  While in the Air Force he was stationed in Germany, Guam, and Alaska and was sent to places like France, Asia, England, Spain, Turkey, Thailand, and Vietnam among others.  Thanks For Your Service Dad!

Both stamps used for this card are retired Stampin Up stamps: World Map for the image and the sentiment is one from the Word Play set.
